The Lyles' NYC/Dublin Adventure: Day 4

Slept in. This is usually a no-no on a Lyles' vacation, but we had to beat the jet lag.

After a morning walk along the Liffey, it was time for brunch at Elephant and Castle in the Temple Bar area. Strangely enough, we had some of the best wings ever there. They were perfectly crisp and delicious.

We then accidentally marched right in the middle of a HUGE protest against Dublin's new law causing residents to pay more for their water.

-Short walk over to Saint Patrick's Cathedral with a stop in between into a local art shop. We found an awesome print there by a local artist of some colorful Irish doors. Guided tour of Saint Patrick's Cathedral. It's hard to believe just how well the beautiful place has weathered the test of time.

Guinness Factory tour. I had my first Guinness (yes, ever) atop the Gravity Bar that overlooked the city and surrounding areas including the Wicklow Mountains- Guinness' water source.

Dinner at the Boxty House where we went all out on the Irish food- Irish beef stew, Irish soda bread, corned beef Boxty and Bailey's Irish Cream cheesecake for dessert. How very Irish of us.

Side note: while we were enjoying a beautiful and sunny day out, it was snowing back in D.C.

After walking alongside the Liffey, we went to Dublin's oldest pub-The Brazenhead for a night cap of my new favorite- Guinness. The Brazenhead has been on the same site since the late 12th century.

Random learned fact: wait 2 minutes, after your Guinness is poured before drinking it.

We stopped by Cafe en Seine on Dawson St. on the way home but the swanky faux Parisian scene just wasn't for us. So, we quickly skipped right out of the door almost as soon as we waltzed in.

Murphy's craving struck again, but they were closed. So, it's bed time for the Lyles.

Goodnight, Dublin!
